Waste Management

RichWave's operating locations do not engage in production, thus the waste generated consists of mainly office waste. Electronic wastes mainly come from laboratory tests and product samples preserved for QA purposes; these include hazardous wastes such as electronic scraps and defective products. RichWave has established a dedicated waste management unit in charge of hazardous waste declaration, disposal, and reduction. It is also responsible for monitoring waste disposal to make sure that the process complies with the government's environmental policies and regulations. The Company also implements proper waste disposal and reduction practices, and has set a target to reduce waste generation at its Taiwan sites by 3% by 2028, using 2022 as the baseline year.

To materialize responsible production and mitigate our operating wastes' potential environmental impact, RichWave has implemented the following waste management strategies in various stages.

Waste Management Target

In 2024, the Company’s waste generation totaled 11.3006 tonnes, resulting in a waste intensity of 0.0031 tonnes per million revenue. Notably, general industrial waste accounted for 97.4% of the total, with incineration being the primary treatment method. Hazardous industrial waste, primarily consisting of scrapped products and electronic waste, amounted to 0.2900 tonnes, making up approximately 2.6% of the total waste. This hazardous waste achieved a recycling rate of about 95%, with 5.66% of it being re-circulated into various stages of the product life cycle. Waste generation in 2024 decreased by 9.35% compared to 2023, mainly due to the continuous promotion of waste processing as a resource.

RichWave's current waste recycling items are mainly packaging materials related to products, IC scraps, and defective products, with a total recycling volume of 2.22 tonnes in 2024, which was delivered to qualified and professional waste processing vendors for recycling and reuse. In the future, RichWave will proactively plan and expand the diversified use of recycled materials to achieve the goals of a circular economy and improve resource utilization efficiency.

Note 1: The estimation method for general waste in 2024 at the Hsinchu branch involves measuring the daily general waste production per person, extrapolated to estimate the company-wide daily general waste production per person.
Note 2: The hazardous business waste consists of electronic scraps and defective products.
Note 3: Waste is disposed of 100% off-site by qualified contractors, with statistics covering operations in Taiwan.
